The American Grown Field to Vase Dinner Tour launched its first post pandemic dinner since 2019 on a brisk spring afternoon at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, California. What threatened to be a damp evening turned into a spectacular afternoon and magical sunset overlooking the fields of stunning ranunculus. A treat for all to attend the re-launch of the Field to Vase dinner series marked an incredible evening of celebrating American Grown flowers and foliage.

This spectacular evening was an amazing way to launch the 2022 dinner tour, thanks to Michael A Mellano of Mellano and Company (flower farming partner at The Flower Fields) who shared the art and science of flower growing with guests, the Ecke family, and renowned event designer Shawna Yamamoto of Shawna Yamamoto Event Designs who added a surprise non-floral element to her unique and creative design experience.

Once the sun set, the surprise non floral element made a dramatic appearance.
More than 150 guests gathered on the farm for a unique and immersive experience, enjoying the beauty of the surroundings while dining on a multi-course dinner created by chef Teegan Smith of Crown Point Catering featuring a fresh burrata salad, local sea bass with lemon beurre Blanc, braised short ribs with red wine reduction, roasted seasonal vegetables and whipped potatoes.
The meal was accompanied by several wines from the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association and craft beer from local favorite, Tap Truck. Guests were serenaded throughout the evening by soulful musician Fred Benedetti. The experience was a feast for all senses!
